It was with great pleasure that I together with 20 other members hosted an informal visit to the Club by Captain Tim Neild and 3 of his fellow officers,  on Monday 20th March.

Captain Tim and his fellow officers are extremely keen  to continue the warm and friendly relationship enjoyed between HMS Albion and the Club. As many of you will be aware HMS Albion has been “moth balled” for a number of years, however it has been the subject of a major refurbishment and is currently undergoing sea trials and tests prior to being re-dedicated at a ceremony in Glasgow in late July 2017.

HMS Albion is likely to be berthing in Liverpool shortly after and he is hopeful of arranging events on the ship to include the Club. It is possible to follow the progress of HMS Albion via Twitter at @hms_albion and I know that the Officers and crew are keen for members to follow the ship’s activities around the world. There is also a twitter feed on our own site which you can see by clicking here.

May I thank those members who attended on Monday evening and who gave such a warm welcome to Captain Tim who will his fellow officers severely depleting the Club’s gin stock.
